The Suzuki Association of Minnesota By-Laws define the governing and operational rules of the Association under which the Board of Directors must operate on behalf of the membership.

In 2013, changes were made to the By-Laws to meet state requirements. These proposals were reviewed by the attending membaers at the Annual Meeting in October 2013. Updates were voted on and approved by a mail-in ballot sent to the full membership. The amended By-Laws were filed with the Minnesota Secretary of State in April 2014.

Policies are set by the board to define the operations of the Association. The State of Minnesota requires specific non-profit policies. The proposed language in these governance policies were reviewed and approved at the Annual Meeting in November 2014. These policies include a Record Retention Policy, a Whistleblower Policy, and a Conflict of Interest Policy.

Chapter Affiliation with the Suzuki Association of the Americas

As a Chapter Affiliate, the Suzuki Association of Minnesota has met the requirements of the SAA to not only be endorsed by the SAA, but also to receive their support, benefits, and international recognition. Chapter Affiliate membership was achieved through a three-step process: application, public comment, and completion of the affiliation agreement. To download a copy of the requirements, please CLICK HERE.

By serving as a Chapter Affiliate, SAM enables the philosophies and goals of SAA to be implemented at the local level, and likewise, as a Chapter Affiliate, we receive the benefits of recognition and promotion at the national level. Affiliation with the SAA is an effective key to weaving our statewide Suzuki community into the whole national and international Suzuki movement.

The Suzuki Association of Minnesota is one of only 12 SAA Chapter Affiliates. The Suzuki Association of the Americas  is the not-for-profit organization officially licensed to support, guide, and promote Suzuki education in North, Central, and South America. The SAA was founded in 1972, currently has about 8,000 members and is one of 4 regional associations of the International Suzuki Association.
